Bergen Tutors ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

When you create a tutor account, we collect:

Your name, title, and email address
A photo of your school-issued staff ID, which you upload as a document
The subjects and grade levels you teach
Your current school and district (optional)
Anything you add to your profile afterwards — a headline, a biography, a photograph, your availability, the towns you serve, and the languages you speak

School staff ID. Tutors upload a photo of their school-issued staff ID so we can verify their teaching position. We use it only for verification. It is accessible only to Bergen Tutors administrators, is never displayed on a profile or shared with families, and is kept for as long as the tutor's account exists. It is deleted when the account is deleted. Canceling a subscription does not delete it.

We do not collect social security numbers or government-issued ID numbers through this site.

Bergen Tutors does not store credit card numbers. Tutor memberships are free for every tutor through December 1, 2026, and some tutors who joined earlier hold free periods running through January 1, 2027. When paid memberships begin, payments will be handled by Stripe, our payment processor, which collects and stores card details under its own privacy policy. We receive only a record that a payment succeeded and limited details such as the last four digits of the card.

How We Use Your Information

Information submitted through our forms is used solely to:

Verify that you currently teach at a New Jersey school
Contact you about your Bergen Tutors membership
Set up and manage your tutor profile

To confirm a tutor's position, we check publicly available information on their school's or district's website. We do not contact schools or districts on a tutor's behalf.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Storage

Form submissions are stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is stored in the United States. Access is restricted to Bergen Tutors administrators only.

Tutor Profiles

Once your profile is live on the platform, your name, school district, subjects, and any bio you provide will be visible to families searching for tutors. Your email address and contact information are never displayed publicly — families contact you through the platform.

Your Rights

You may request to view, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing hello@bergentutors.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform grows. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users.
