By using Bergen Tutors ("the platform"), you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
Bergen Tutors is a directory and matching platform that connects families in Bergen County, NJ with teachers who currently work in New Jersey schools for private tutoring. We are not a tutoring agency. We do not employ tutors, set session rates, or mediate sessions.
To list a profile on Bergen Tutors, you must:
Tutors must be currently employed as teachers at a New Jersey school and must notify Bergen Tutors if that changes. Bergen Tutors may ask tutors to re-verify at any time and may remove any profile that can no longer be verified.
Tutors set their own rates and arrange sessions directly with families. Bergen Tutors takes no commission on sessions. All payments occur off-platform between the tutor and the family.
Bergen Tutors reserves the right to remove any profile that contains false or misleading information, or that violates these terms.
Browsing and searching Bergen Tutors is free. Families contact tutors directly through the platform. Bergen Tutors does not guarantee availability, session quality, or outcomes. We encourage families to confirm their tutor's identity independently before beginning sessions.
Bergen Tutors reviews a school-issued staff ID from each tutor and confirms their teaching position through their school's or district's publicly available website before their profile is published. We do not conduct criminal background checks, and we do not independently verify that the person using a profile is the teacher it describes. Before your first session, we recommend asking your tutor to show a government-issued photo ID that matches the name on their Bergen Tutors profile.
Two membership plans are offered. The quarterly plan is $50 every three months and renews automatically until cancelled. The annual plan is a single charge of $100 for twelve months and does not renew automatically; we will email a reminder before it lapses.
A quarterly membership may be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and the profile remains listed until then. All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, including for partial periods.
Tutor memberships are free for every tutor through December 1, 2026. Some tutors who joined earlier hold free periods running through January 1, 2027. No payment information is collected before a tutor chooses a plan. Billing begins when a tutor's free period ends, and we will notify tutors by email in advance of any charge.
A profile is listed publicly while the tutor is inside their free period or has membership time remaining. When neither applies, the profile is hidden from search and from family inquiries, and all profile information is retained; starting a plan restores the listing.
Bergen Tutors is provided "as is." We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the platform, sessions arranged through it, or interactions between tutors and families.
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
